When we come across this situation, it's important to establish with the homeowner if an industrial hygienist will be called on to take air samples of the mold before and after the work is performed. Since we are only able to provide a visual inspection, we will only treat the mold that we can find in the affected area. Whether an industrial hygienist is used or not, there are certain precautions and safety measures we must take to ensure everyone's safety.

In this instance, we started by containing the affected area and placing an air scrubber to prevent mold spores from travelling to other parts of the home. We then hepa vacuumed the area along with disinfecting with an antimicrobial. We then returned after the area was dry to apply an anti-microbial paint to seal away any remaining spores.
